So what is Conveyancing?
Conveyancing is the process whereby legal Title of a Property is transferred from a Vendor to a Purchaser. It may also include the transfer of legal Title between spouses or domestic partners or to other family members. Mostly, this occurs once a buyer and a seller enter into a Contract of Sale. Contracts of Sale are legally enforceable once fully executed by all relevant parties to the transaction.
Conveyancing work also includes, liaising with Mortgagees, preparing relevant paperwork in order to transfer the Title from one person to another, conducting searches, calculating adjustments for the apportionment of rates, organising and attending settlement.
In Victoria Conveyancing work can only be done by a Licenced Conveyancer or a Legal Practitioner.
